Metro Turning Point
Metro Turning Point, established in 1973, is a harm reduction emergency shelter located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It provides essential services for individuals experiencing homelessness who identify as male or gender expansive.
Capacity and Services:
- The shelter has 30 beds available for overnight stays
- Guests are provided with: A locker for personal belongings; 2-3 meals daily; Access to a refrigerator; Phone and laundry facilities; and Personal care and comfort items

Additional Support:
The shelter collaborates with our Mobile Outreach Street Health (MOSH) team and various organizations to provide on-site support, including:
• Addiction Prevention and Treatment Services (APTS) Outreach Workers
• Community Mental Health Nurse (NS Health Authority, Central Zone)
• Department of Community Services Income Assistance Workers
• Dalhousie Legal Aid
• Phoenix Youth Programs
• Halifax Regional Police
Metro Turning Point is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For those seeking a bed, they can call (902) 420-3282 at any time to check availability.
If no beds are available, individuals are encouraged to arrive at the shelter (2170 Barrington Street) at midnight, as beds are reassigned daily.
The shelter is part of Shelter Nova Scotia, an organization committed to supporting people in times of crisis through emergency shelters, supported housing, and community outreach programs
