Dental Clinic
Our goal is to serve those most in need.
NECHC has four (4) fully equipped dental suites. All treatment is provided by students from Dalhousie Faculty of Dentistry – all students are supervised by licensed dental healthcare providers. Dalhousie Dental provides services from September to May, excluding December and Holidays. Services do not include orthodontic, endodontics, or aesthetic services such as teeth whitening. We are not an emergency/walk-in clinic and we do not currently accept referrals from private dental clinics.
Patients can access our dental clinic via referral. Patients must be connected to NECHC and request a referral from their primary care provider or other staff, i.e. case manager, housing support worker, social worker or other staff member. Please note that we often have a lengthy wait list.
Dental Care
Our dental clinic offers complete exams, x-rays, dental hygiene therapy (cleanings), restorative treatment (fillings), and extractions.
Oral Health Education Outreach
We offer information sessions in partnership with Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Dentistry in community settings such as school groups, libraries, health fairs and community centres.

What to expect for your appointment:
You will be asked to fill out a new patient form at your first appointment including your health history. At each subsequent appointment we will ask you to review and update your personal and health information.
All treatment is provided by students.
Appointments are often up to 3 hours, expect to be here for that time. If you cannot be reached by 15 minutes past your scheduled appointment time, your appointment may be given to another client on our wait list.
We expect all patients to apply for the Canadian Dental Care Plan.
